Tanzania… Messy Notes From A Trip

Best Tanzania Safari

So yeah, we picked Tanzania. People thought we were a bit mad, like, why not Paris or Bali for a honeymoon? But honestly, a Honeymoon in Tanzania just sounded different. And wow, it was. Not neat, not always smooth, but exactly the kind of trip you don’t forget.

Honeymoon in Tanzania

First day, I remember waking up in this tented camp. Cold air, smell of coffee somewhere, and then, out there, giraffes just wandering. Like neighbours but taller. I laughed; my partner just stared. Later on, we jumped in a jeep, bouncing on dirt tracks, dust in our teeth, and spotting lions under acacia trees. The ride was rough, and my hair is a mess. But we were smiling the whole time.

Most people talk about Serengeti, Ngorongoro… and yeah, they’re famous for a reason. But Ruaha, oh Ruaha. A Ruaha National Park Tour feels like stepping into another world. Huge, empty, raw. Hours without seeing another vehicle, which was strange and also kind of amazing. Elephants everywhere, predators in the grass, birds filling the sky with noise. It wasn’t polished, no fancy setups. Just nature doing its thing. And we felt lucky to watch it.

One day, it rained out of nowhere. Jeep got stuck for a while, our guide just shrugged, like “hakuna matata, this is Africa.” We sat there, wet, laughing at how unromantic it was… but that’s the memory we tell the most now.

After the safaris, we flew to Zanzibar. Whole different vibe. Blue water, white sand, spicy food that hits your nose before it hits your tongue. We walked the markets, bought random things we didn’t need, and ate seafood straight from the grill. It was slow, easy, the opposite of the wild days before.

And that’s what I keep thinking about. Tanzania isn’t just one thing. It’s chaos and calm. Dusty tracks and soft beaches. Wild predators and quiet dinners under the stars. Things go wrong—a flat tire, a sunburn, running late. But those bits, the “imperfect” parts, they are the ones you laugh about later.

Would I do it again? Absolutely. For love, adventure, and for both. Tanzania gives you stories, not just photos. And that’s rare.
